Parties were typically used in friend groups to join the same game together. This led to a lot of frustration because as people were playing a game if someone else joined a different one, they were automatically moved without warning. If someone left and joined a new game, the entire party would follow them. On Xbox One, users in the same Xbox Live party with Roblox open would join the game of the party. If the party leader (the one who created the party) joined a game, everyone in that party would be forced to join their game & server with them. This feature allowed users to join games together.
